iScreeningRoom Takes the Audience Out of Test Screenings With aiScreeningRoom
AI platform watches the entire film and predicts audience reception for every cut - with no test audience to recruit and no footage put in front of one
LOS ANGELES - September 10th, 2026 - Testing an unreleased film has always carried the same risk: the only way to learn how audiences will respond is to put the footage in front of people who can leak it. iScreeningRoom today announced the beta launch of aiScreeningRoom, an AI-powered platform that removes the test audience from the equation - the system watches the entire film and predicts how audiences will respond, without the footage ever being shown to a test audience. Testers never see the film, so they cannot leak it.
With no audience to recruit and no screening to schedule, a film can be tested as often as the filmmakers want, at any stage of post-production. The platform predicts the film’s eventual real-world audience score, maps where the film holds or loses viewers minute by minute, identifies specific moments to the second, and recommends the changes aimed at improving audience reception.
“The traditional test screening gives you one audience, in one theater, on one night, and then asks you to make a multimillion-dollar decision,” said Harmon Kaslow, president and CEO of iScreeningRoom. “aiScreeningRoom gives you a read on every cut without ever putting the film in front of an audience. That changes test screening from an event into an instrument.”
Built to Predict Real Audience Results
aiScreeningRoom is a reception-prediction instrument trained on more than 10 years of iScreeningRoom movie-testing data: more than 35,000 audience survey responses and nearly 43,000 timestamped, moment-by-moment reactions from real viewers watching real films.
iScreeningRoom tests films online with nationwide audiences selected for their interest in the film’s genre, premise, and comparable titles. Those taste-matched panels have a measured track record: when they scored a film high, organic IMDb usually did too - within one point on 32 of 36 films (89%) that went on to earn an honest organic public rating, each film graded by a mapping that never saw it. Where published IMDb pages show a heavy pile-up at both one star and ten stars - the signature of organized up-and-down voting rather than ordinary taste - the middle of the ballot tracks the panel projection more closely.
aiScreeningRoom was built to reproduce those human-audience results - and validated on films locked away from training and tuning. On nine holdout films the system was never trained on or tuned with, its predictions landed within about a quarter of a point of the score real iScreeningRoom audiences gave the same films on average, on the panel’s 1–5 scale (rank agreement 0.75). A separate cheat-check - a falsifiable probe of what the model knows from memory, with no footage - found that panel-prediction accuracy on films it cannot recall matched accuracy on films it can recall, confirming the instrument is judging footage rather than memory.
That validation gives studios and producers a prediction for an unreleased film that is tied, through two independently measured links, to its eventual public audience reception. The score can be compared directly against similarly rated films whose ratings and commercial performance are already known - the critical missing input for modeling potential box office performance against comparable titles. A single traditional test, in one location, with a paid recruited audience, cannot supply that input with confidence. aiScreeningRoom fills the gap with an iterative testing process available to studios and producers before critical decisions about acquisitions, editing, positioning, marketing and distribution.
A full validation summary - methodology, accuracy figures, the U-shaped-ballot sensitivity check, and known limitations - is published at aiscreeningroom.com/validation.
Test Every Cut
Because aiScreeningRoom requires no theater, audience recruitment or scheduling, a film can be tested at any point in post-production and as often as a filmmaker wants. A studio or producer can evaluate a rough assembly, compare alternate cuts, test a new ending and measure whether editorial changes improved the predicted audience response. Testing becomes part of the editing process rather than a single verdict delivered after one screening.
aiScreeningRoom provides:
- A predicted real-world audience score
- Minute-by-minute analysis of where the film holds or loses its audience
- Positive and negative moments identified to the second
- An assessment of whether the film delivers on its synopsis, genre and audience expectations
- Recommended changes most likely to improve the film and audience reception
Meet Felix
Following each evaluation, filmmakers can work with Felix, aiScreeningRoom’s interactive film-analysis assistant. Felix allows filmmakers to question the results, examine individual scenes and discuss changes involving story, pacing, performance, editing, cinematography and other elements of the film.
Felix is a cinephile who provides candid analysis rather than agreeable feedback. If a scene is not working, Felix identifies the problem, explains why and helps the filmmaker work through possible solutions.
“Felix is a fresh set of eyes. No audience in the room, no one to impress, just the truth about the cut while there's still time to change it,” said Scott DeSapio, CTO of iScreeningRoom.
Free Beta Access
The aiScreeningRoom beta is free and open to a limited group of working filmmakers with feature films at any stage of post-production, from rough assembly through locked picture.
Beta participants can evaluate their films at no charge while iScreeningRoom establishes a public record of the platform’s predictive accuracy - every prediction logged before release, scored against reality after. Participants will also receive priority access when the commercial platform launches.
Studios, producers and filmmakers can apply at aiscreeningroom.com. Submitted footage remains the property of the filmmaker and is never shown to a test audience.
About iScreeningRoom
For more than 10 years, iScreeningRoom - called “a revolutionary online test screening platform” by Forbes - has tested movies using nationwide, interest-matched online audiences. Its proprietary testing data includes more than 35,000 audience survey responses and nearly 43,000 timestamped reactions from real viewers watching real films.
iScreeningRoom’s security measures include burned-in and floating watermarks, viewer authentication and controlled access. No film has leaked through an iScreeningRoom test screening.
aiScreeningRoom builds on that experience, methodology and data to predict audience reception without ever exposing the film to a test audience.
